Andrew Franks served in the 1776 North Carolina Brigade as a Drummer. He married Seley (Celia) McCinsey on 12 Jan 1780 and they had six children.

Andrew's grandfather, John Martin Franks, born circa 1700 in Germany, came from the Palantinate, near the City of Heidelberg, Germany. He came to the United States with several hundred German immigrants, the Hitts, Hollzclauses, Fishbacks and others. Some of these families went to New Bern, NC and some went to Germantown, Virginia in 1732. They were part of the DeGraffenreid Colony.

Andrew Franks died in Nachitoches Territory, LA in 1836.
