Frances Kemp was a native of Bienville Parish, Louisiana and was married to George Riley Cummings. They had four sons: Carson, Cody, Curtis and George. She was known by her family as "Mammie" Cummings. She owned and operated hotels in Jonesboro, Haynesville and Winnfield. She was a member of the Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA and the Order of the Eastern Star. She is buried in Liberty Hill Cemetery with several other members of her family. She lived for 82 years.
