7 May 1898 - 1 October 1963 Born: 7 May 1898 Rapides Parish, LA Died: 1 October 1963 Alexandria, LA Sim B. Whatley was the son of Archilous Berenger Whatley. Sim worked in a foundry in Ball, LA and later became a salesman in the meat packing business. Eventually, he became the owner of the Rapides Packing Company and S.B. Whatley Stock Farms, a 3,000 acre plantaion with a commercial herd of 500 cows and 1,000 steers, in Alexandria, LA. The brand was BAR 75. He married Winona Cook in November of 1919 and had four children: Stanford, Ray, Faye and Mildred. Sim B.
