Rev. Jacob Gibson
1722 - 1793
Born: 1722 Virginia
Died: 1793 Fairfield County, SC
The Gibsons supposedly emigrated from Northern Ireland to Virginia. Jacob Gibson was born in Virginia and moved to Fairfield County, SC where he was a Baptist minister. He married Judith Napier.

"Gibson's Branch was named for Jacob Gibson, who came to Fairfield County and settled on Little River prior to the Revolutionary War. Traditionally Jacob Gibson came from Virginia and was mostly self-educated. By 1762 he had built a meeting house on Little River and also established a school. In 1770 his meeting house gained the status of an organized Baptist Church and in 1771, he was ordained a Baptist minister. Just beyond the branch is the Gibson graveyard, where many of the descendants of Jacob Gibson found their eternal rest."
